Welcome to HeartThoughts. There is potential here for much growth in a variety of areas including online and in-print book and publications, discussion forums, reading and Bible study groups…and more.
This journal will primarily be a place for me to store quotations, ideas, and inspiration related to all things literary. I’ll also be sharing things that do not fit on the YLCF forum…because there is so much more I want to write than can be published in the daily magazine format of that website.
Most importantly, this is a place to interact and spur each other onward. Our two focuses of solitude and enrichment may seem contradictory in some ways, but with the essence of Christianity and all existence being about relationships, I find that solitude has little purpose outside of the context of community. The enrichment will find fullest expression through the Book Society and Tea Table Chat; solitude will be encouraged and studied through my journal, Quests, and resources offered in the Library. We hope you will join us in various quests to delve deeper into the heart of our great God and strengthen the minds He has given us.
A few notes…anything in italics is an invitation to join in. This may include projects, questions, and requests for your perspective. Though comments are moderated for your safety (the Tea Table is a more private, unmoderated part of the retreat center), any chit chat is welcome.
If you plan on being a regular visitor, please introduce yourself!

Looks exciting, my dear! I’m eager to search around more and soak it all up and see what I can join.

My name is Kyndra, and I am a nearly nineteen year old college student who desires to know and serve God with all of her being. I am also a voracious reader since the age of five, and hope to be a frequent visitor here!

O yes, I might also mention that I was homeschooled grades k-12 and plan to live at home until the time when the Lord sees fit to place me under the roof of my own husband.
Currently my thought with college is to study to be a school libraria, an occupation which would not only allow me to be near the books which I love, but would allow me to positively impact the lives of many children for Christ.
Smiles,
Kyndra

I’ve only been a reader at YLCF for a short time, but I’ve been enjoying it, especially Mrs Klein’s & Mrs Ivester’s posts, and the many articles on writing. I’m not a regular visitor to many sites/blogs, but I’ll definitely be adding this to my short list of favourites.
Mrs Klein, in reading your YLCF posts I got the impression that you are definitely a kindred spirit (I find them scarcer than Anne did:(), because so many of your favourite books/authors were the same as mine. As an aspiring authoress, your articles on writing are a huge blessing & encouragement-thank you! (why didn’t I discover YLCF years ago?!) This site is strengthening that impression (I noticed there’s a pic from One Night With the King, which is a favourite of my 16yo sister & I).
Now I’ll stop rambling . . . I have a question about the Tea Table. Am I right in assuming that it is a message forum mostly for discussing books & related subjects? I’m interested in joining, but I’d like to know a little more about it before committing to it, as my internet time is very limited. I’ve seen several ladies’ message forums fold due to either a lack of interest or too much interest . . .
The Quest sounds interesting. As a product of a Charlotte Mason/informal classical/Deut. 6 home education, I’m doing something similar in lieu of traditional higher education.

“Emma”,
The Tea Table is a message forum, yes, but one that is very focused and will be digging into books seriously. It also includes other things though like access to online readings from various books.

I have been meaning to comment and introduce myself for quite some time now! Real Life seems to get in the way so much…despite at present there being not so much in real life at the moment!
Anyway. I’m Katy from Scotland and I’m really looking forward to finally being able to participate here. I’m a Christian who loves God (…I doubt I’d be here if I wasn’t.) and I’ve just finished my University course in English literature. At the moment I’m living at home and am training to be a legal secretary. I’ve been reading and loving YLCF for a couple of years now, and found myself directed there from a link on Josh Harris’s website. It’s only recently that I’ve had the courage to pop up and comment on some of the posts there though.
