The Epic of Gilgamesh is probably the shortest book on my list (I am still wondering what possessed me to put Brothers Karamazov and War and Peace on there-in addition to reading Les Miserables with the Tea Table! I am not sure I can pull it off). The most interesting part for me was on Tablet Eleven which was concerned primarily with a myth of the great Flood. Though little was the same, a man was warned by the gods to build a boat, he filled it with provisions and animals, and after the rains ceased the boat came to rest on a mountaintop. While on the mountaintop the man sent out a dove, a raven, and other birds to see if the land was dry. Interesting.
Moving on as fast as I can–let’s see how quickly I can conquer Virgil’s The Aeneid. I am hoping to finish by May 1.

Another thing I noticed in Gilgamesh was when Ishtar wants to send the bull of heaven to punish Gilgamesh, and her father warned her that doing so would result in a 7 years famine.
I wondered how this related to Joseph’s famine in Genesis?

oh yes, good call. I had forgotten that part. Did you just recently read it as well?

Yes, about a month ago. I found it really interesting!
